Mini-Walk for Refugees
Refugees are people who cannot return home – Whose own government cannot or will not protect them -- Who are persecuted for their religious or political beliefs -- Who flee war or genocide -- Who are brutalized by a military regime.
You can make a difference in the lives of these families and children, who need to build a new life in a new home. Join with the First Trinity and St. Matthew's community in our Help the Homeless Mini-Walk, on October 30th after the worship service (around 11:45 am). You can support us by making a tax-deductible donation or joining our Mini-Walk. Whether or not you are able to donate, come support with your presence and learn of other ways you can help.
To sign up or donate securely online, go to:

(See Ruth Worman for information or paper registration form, or just show up the day of the walk.)
Through this mini-walk, we support Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area. Its Refugee/Immigrant Services provides resettlement assistance to approximately 350 refugees each year -- surrounding refugees with assistance and support so that they can build the skills they will need to be successful in their new community.
The Help the Homeless Program raises funds to support organizations working to prevent and end homelessness in the Washington, DC area. Since 1988, the Program has raised $85 million, impacting thousands of families and children in our communities. With the support of people like you, the Help the Homeless nonprofit organizations touched over 400,000 clients offering over 6,200 housing units to the Washington, DC area.
