Life In Balance
Life in Balance: A Benedictine Path
Please note: We will meet through June 27, and then resume on September 5.
If you hunger for a life centered in God, seek balance in your life and the support of others on this journey, we invite you to join us.
Every Thursday from 7:15-8:30pm we engage the practices of Benedictine spirituality to renew and center ourselves in the gospels and seek a life of balance.
We have two goals for our time together - to learn about the Rule of Benedict and to begin to create an individual rule, or guide, that brings us to greater awareness of God and the holy in our every day lives.
Our time together centers on how we integrate the spiritual foundations and practices – listening, prayer, study, community, work, holy leisure and more - into our daily living, thereby attuning ourselves to attend and call out the sacred around and within us. We talk and listen and use centering prayer to quiet our minds and open our hearts to God’s word.
What to expect if you attend this gathering
This Benedictine study group flows from First Trinity’s Thursday evening meal and evening prayer. You may choose to join us for the meal and evening prayer and then the spirituality group. However, you are welcome at whatever time you are able to arrive and join the evening. Here is the schedule:
6-6:45pm – soup and salad (parlor)
6:45-7:00pm – Evening Prayer (sanctuary)
7:15-8:30pm – Life In Balance (Small Fellowship Room)
Your presence will be a blessing for all on the journey!
If you are joining us for the first time, we are located one block from the Red Line Judiciary Square Metro on the corner of 4th and E St. NW. We also DO have a parking lot we can use week nights after 5 and on the weekends, so if you're driving, there is parking available.
